#GETTOKNOWTHEHEROES: BELLA KUAN

Hey Heroes! 🌟

Welcome back to #GetToKnowTheHeroes!

Today, we’re getting to know our fearless and talented co-founder, Bella Kuan! We all know that she’s one of KL’s most outspoken and honest public figures. Always encouraging the masses to believe in what’s right– while jet-setting around the world and looking cute to boot!

Dive in and find out what makes Bella… BELLA!

1. When is your birthday, and what's your zodiac sign?

20/12/1991, I am a fiery and carefree Sagittarius

2. How would you describe yourself in 5 words?

Adventurous, bubbly, creative, decisive and competitive

3. What's your favourite childhood memory?

Taking long walks with my dad after dinner. We’d usually walk out to buy his newspaper and occasionally some snacks if I’m lucky.. Sometimes we’ll walk out to the night market on Saturdays.

4. Who are your role models or people who inspire you?

My grandma. She is a person with very little words, but her actions always speak the loudest. The way she takes care of the family and how eager she is to help others. She contributes tirelessly and is very patient with everyone in the family and almost never complains. She has grit but at the same time she remains soft. She taught me how to be flexible and adaptive in life, you can be strong but also remain soft at the same time. I have learnt some great values from her growing up. And she is also an amazing cook which inspired me to pick up cooking.

5. What's your go-to comfort food or favourite dish?

TOO MANY. But ultimately it will be anything to do with hot soup.

6. Share your top skincare routine or product recommendations.

Weekly: exfoliation with a clay mask.

Alternate days: sheet mask for hydration

Daily: you have to double-cleanse. It makes a HUGE difference to your skin. I’m obsessed with the Oat Mighty Cleansing Balm. After cleansing I'll go in with a calming toner, serum and then moisturiser/oil depending on my skin condition. Sunscreen during the day is a must.

I don’t think I can ever live without the Hyaluronic Showroom serum. It has saved my skin numerous times especially when I'm active and exposed under the sun a lot. I don’t think I could have maintained my skin this well if it was without the HA Snowshroom serum.

7. What's your beauty tip or secret for looking and feeling your best?

A good hair day makes a huge difference. You don’t need to have a full face of makeup but if you have the right brows, good skin, natural tinted lips and good hair, I think we are set.

But to feel my best it's definitely working out and staying active for me. It has a great impact on anyone not just physically but also mentally.

8. Tell us about your most memorable travel destination and experience.

I had the chance to do a live on board diving trip in the Maldives where we hopped from one island to another day to day doing multiple dives a day. Being able to stay on the boat for 7 days has been the most memorable experience. Not only did we get to explore different diving sites and spot so many different species of marine life, some that I’d never imagine myself coming across in my life. The best time was also when we are off our phones because of how little network we get and we can’t use our phones underwater.

It felt great to be completely cut off from the real world and immerse in escapism.

9. If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

Socotra island in Yemen. It is one of those untouched, exotic islands which is more challenging to travel to. And there’s this special tree which is grown on the island called the dragon’s blood tree which looks like it came straight out from an Avatar movie. It would be a cool place to visit someday.

10. What's a fun or unusual hobby or talent that not many people know about?

I used to practise martial arts (Wushu) and represented KL in the national games.

11. If you had a superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?

Be able to pick up a skill and master it quickly and just be able to possess any talents/skills in the world. - Like I said I am very competitive you see.

12. Share a memorable life lesson or personal growth experience.

Always trust your instincts and do not ignore red flags. Especially when it comes to dealing with people.

Having self awareness is important to be able to grow and improve as an individual. It is so important to be able to reflect on yourself and admit that we are never perfect. But as long as we are committing to making a change, that’s good enough. Of course, being aware itself isn’t going to be enough, you have to actually do something to make it happen.

13. Last one! What’s your go-to song to get in your most confident self?

Some old school oldies like Respect by Aretha Franklin. She herself radiates confidence, and her music makes me feel very empowered.

And there you have it, folks!

We hope you feel like you know the brain, heart, soul and person behind your favourite skincare goodies a little more. Don’t forget to stay tuned for the next #GetToKnowTheHeroes segment or comment down below who you wanna know more about next time!
